Gemilang...realiti untuk UM ke?

Jaclyn Victor...a well-deserved winner indeed.

At least, she was able to belt out the word "Gemilang" with a sense of glory.

Not so for UM, though.

Given any small opportunity, I would rather give my praise to this highly over-rated, supposedly prestigeous institution of higher learning.

That would give me a reason well enough to call myself a world-class student, the creme brulee among the jellos.

So, UM is rated among the top 100 universities in the world; and we actually have to buy that?

Call me a pessimist, but the last time I recalled UM falling short of becoming one of the 100's top universities in the world; the Ministry of Higher Learning tried its lamest to convince the public that the ratings were groundless.

So, what makes the current ratings so incredibly credible now?

We know our true situation, and we don't need any banners in the campus proclaiming UM's 'achievement' to convince us otherwise.

One question remains: Do we then, keep on amusing ourselves with UM-bashing while we continue with our new-found legacy of mediocracy?

We have only ourselves to answer to.
