Post-Christmas Blues

9.05 am- Recieved an SMS from my housemate.
"We are now standing at the street opposite our apartment, looking because we felt a
tremor :P"

Another Highlands Towers tragedy in the making?

11.15am- I wrote back.-"Serious?! Just be careful."

11.20am- "Oh, we are now back in our apartment. Everything's alright."

7.30pm- Decided to check the news for myself.

Sea surges kill thousands in Asia
More than 6,000 people have been killed across southern Asia in massive sea surges triggered by the strongest earthquake in the world for 40 years.

The 8.9 magnitude quake struck under the sea near Aceh in north Indonesia, generating a wall of water that sped across thousands of kilometres of sea.

Sri Lanka: 2,425 dead
Indonesia: 1,873 dead
India: 1,600 dead

To think, one has to attend a funeral of a loved one who died from an earthquake which shook even calamities-free Malaysia.

To think, we could be right at the spot where our lives could have just been hung by a fine thread.

To think, we can only rely upon God's mercy for our lives to be spared.

To think...

That more than 2000 years ago, God came to earth as a lowly Man to give us eternal life. It was the best news that any man could have received.

Man was in trouble, beyond salvation; until He came.

The ransom was paid.

But, do we; the contemporary generation truly understands this?

How could we have possibly understand fully God's great rescue plan for us when we were not of the people then?

What then, other than our conviction towards History, ordained by God Himself compell us to
surrender our lives to Him?

It is His grace.

It is the good news He brought, that brings comfort to those who is doomed with bad news.

Today, there is much badness in the news.
We can only pray for His grace upon us- our good news.

That is our only hope.
